Reiki is a healing energy that is most often transferred through the hands, similar to the practice of “laying on of hands” in Christian spiritual tradition.

The intentional use of Reiki is a spiritual practice with Japanese roots.  Reiki practice incorporates hands-on healing, healing meditation, and healing prayer.  It is believed that the practice of Reiki allows a practitioner to tap into the universal life energy and help your energy systems to facilitate natural healing.

Reiki may be used in tandem with conventional or other complimentary treatments.

The five foundational tenets of Reiki are:

Just for today, I will let go of anger.

Just for today, I will let go of worry.

Just for today, I will give thanks for my many blessings.

Just for today, I will do my work honestly.

Just for today, I will be kind to my neighbor and every living thing.

During sessions, you will be asked to either sit or lie down, remaining fully clothed. The practitioner will gently place her hands in a series of non-intrusive positions on or near the body. There is no massage or manipulation.   Please allow at least one hour for an individualized Reiki session.

Everyone reacts to Reiki differently. You may or may not feel sensations during your session.  Some recipients of Reiki feel sensations such as heat, tingling, or the visualization of colors.  Others may have an emotional response.  You will most likely experience a sense of deep relaxation and peaceful wellbeing.

The Reiki energy does not come from the Reiki practitioner, but travels through the practitioner. The person who gives it to another also receives it.

If you are interested in learning to practice Reiki, our Reiki Master Teacher may attune you.  An attunement is a method of training where a master passes on a tradition that they have received from their master.  Students are first trained in healing techniques by the Reiki Master Teacher.  Each student is then initiated through an attunement ritual conducted by the Reiki Master Teacher.
